Some of the test subjects claimed that they had memory losses and changes in mood. What makes it even worse is that, while the ability to go to sleep improved, the quality of sleep didn't. This alone can make you very suspicious of THC as a sleep remedy.

CBD and sleep: How does it work?

Again, like with THC, we have very limited data on CBD. However, it seems that cannabidiol has much more potential as sleep medicine.

Based on what we know so far, it seems that the substance can increase your energy when used in smaller dosages. When you use a higher quantity, you will get drowsy. The reason why cannabidiol might be the best substance for sleep is because of its alternate effects.

Many people use the substance in order to relieve pain, anxiety and to treat inflammations. While we still don't have clinical proof that it truly works for these ailments, there is a lot of anecdotal evidence to back it up. And we mentioned previously, by reducing negative effects, you are much more likely to go to sleep.

A lot of people struggling with this issue experience it as a secondary effect of something more serious. For example, if you're under a lot of stress, you might also have trouble sleeping. CBD might provide a solution to both underlying problems as well as sleep-related ailments.

When it comes to sleep ailments, the substance might work by regulating your patterns. According to research, cannabidiol might modulate walking by activating neurons in the hypothalamus and DRD, both of which are crucial for alertness.
