How to Use Hemp Oil for Acne and 5 Great Reasons Why

Hemp oil is a product that was illegal for the longest time. In the last few years, the governments of the world have begun legalizing cannabis and hemp-derived substances.

While some countries have taken a slower approach when it comes to cannabis legalization, hemp is not fully legal in places such as the US, the UK, Australia, and Canada.

Hemp oil for acne is an especially interesting substance from this product group. Although it doesn't have CBD (the healing substance that is common for hemp and cannabis), it can still provide lots of different medical benefits due to a plethora of vitamins and omega fatty acids.

The substance is especially great for the skin. Perhaps you’ve noticed that more and more cosmetic companies rely on hemp as one of its basic ingredients. This plant is amazing for skin as it can provide moisture and the necessary vitamins.

Here are some of the things you need to know about hemp oil for acne!

What is hemp oil?

Due to the fact this a relatively new product, there are a lot of different misconceptions.

Hemp oil or hemp seed oil is a substance extracted from hemp seeds. We often mistake it for CBD oil that is extracted from hemp flowers and hemp stalks.

Given that there are no cannabinoids in hemp seeds, it is much safer to use this item than CBD oil (although both products are relatively safe compared to some traditional drugs).

The oil is extracted by cold-pressing the seeds. It can be used either topically or orally. The substance is very powerful due to its high omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acid content.

But there is more!

Hemp oil is also rich in vitamin E and carotene, both of which provide lots of oxidation to the skin. You can utilize the oil both topically and orally, but it seems that it's much better when used topically.

When you use this organic product, you shouldn’t feel the same sensation as when you’re using some other types of cannabis and hemp oils. They don’t have THC, the main reason why people get high when using marijuana.

Hemp oil for skin: what's the impact?

This organic oil can be used for daily care, but it can also provide relief for common skin issues such as acne, psoriasis, dermatitis, inflammations, and infection.

The secret lies in its omega fatty acid content. By using them, you can replenish substances that are lacking in your tissue.

Omega fatty acids provide a lot of moisture, hydrating skin in the process. However, they won't clog the pores like sebum and dust.

Instead, they restore the natural balance. In that sense, omega fatty acids introduced via hemp seed are very similar to natural lipids. Because of that, the users rarely experience side effects when using the substance.

Although you might think that hemp seed is much better for dry skin than oily skin, this isn't completely true. Both types of skin can benefit from it.

All the vitamins will provide replenishment for the tissue and will also stimulate new cell growth. The product can also help with all the microbes and free radicals that are filling your pores, thus eliminating common skin conditions such as acne.

Is hemp oil effective for acne?

A lot of products on the market are advertised as an ideal acne treatment. Oftentimes, these products don't provide much to the skin besides mild hydration.

Things are completely different from hemp seed oil. In fact, the only reason why we haven't used these items until now is that hemp was illegal in most countries of the world.

Luckily, with the latest scientific research, we now know that hemp is not only safe but also beneficial. This is why there are more and more cosmetic products that use hemp and cannabis oil as one of its main ingredients.

Acne is a product of sebum and dirt. As our skin cells die out, they produce more and more sebum that clogs the pores.

Besides that, we are also exposed to various dirt particles present in the air. As time goes by, they also lead to the appearance of microbes and infection.

Hemp oil can be used to reduce sebum. But this isn't the only reason why we use it.

The substance is also famous for its anti-inflammatory properties. They can also eliminate microbes. So, not only do you prevent the future appearance of acne, but you can also remove some of the main things that cause it.

2 Amazing methods of treating acne with hemp oil

With legal barriers being lifted, it is now much easier to get ahold of hemp oil.

The most obvious place where you can buy it is from cannabis and hemp shops. You can also find it in various cosmetic shops and department stores.

There are two main approaches to using hemp seed oil for skin:

  • Oil cleansing method

There are two main types of cleansing methods

The first method is much more common. You just need to take one spoon of oil (either teaspoon or tablespoon) and apply it on the face.

The oil is applied in the same manner as you would do with soap. You can massage it into the skin, but you don't have to. Make sure to cover the whole face, as oil can also provide great anti-aging benefits.

Once the oil is applied, you can take a tower and put it in warm water. Remove any excess water; the towel should be wet but not soaked. Then, place it on your face for a couple of minutes.

Once that's over, take a new tower and remove the oil. Some people like to leave the oil on their face, and that is also an option.

The whole treatment should be done several times a day. However, you don't have to overdo it; using oil 3 times a day is more than enough.

After using oil from hemp seeds for a few days, your skin will be noticeably softer. This would allow you to exfoliate it and apply other methods.

  • Moisturizing method

You can also use hemp oil as a moisturizer. The substance is particularly great for dry to normal skin, although it can also be used by people who have oily skin.

If you’re using the product as a moisturizer, make sure to apply it after washing or cleansing. Keep in mind that you can use both of these methods together; you can clean your face with hemp oil, and then moisturize it with the same product.

The only issue with this is that you might not get the same benefits as if when combining two different products. Put some oil on your hand and gently rub it onto your face. Leave it be for 20 to 30 minutes.

Like with the previous method, make sure to use a towel to remove excess oil once the 30 minutes are over. Keep in mind that you don’t have to remove all of it; leaving a bit of oil on your skin can serve as a protective membrane. You certainly shouldn’t try to remove oil forcefully.

Like with the previous method, it is much better if you have a specialist who can monitor the progress. While this oil is great for skin, there are those who don't react well to it.

If you notice any counter-indications or lack of results after prolonged application, contact your doctor immediately or change the product.
